The New Star Trek Movie (2009) premiered last weekend grossing over 79 million in ticket sales to an adoring audience of long time Star Trek fans and new Star Trek fans alike.
The premeire was attended by the cast members of Star Trek (the original series), Star Trek: The Next Generation, and other Star Trek series spin offs.
Even the original Mr. Spock, Leonard Nimoy was in attendance at the Star Trek 2009 debut.

JJ Abrams Star Trek Movie (2009) makes $79.2 million debut

JJ Abram's Star Trek (2009) had an more stellar opening weekend than originally anticipated

According to final studio numbers released on Monday, director J.J. Abrams' remake of the cult sci-fi phenomenon grossed $79.2 million from late Thursday night through Sunday. Totalling nearly $3 million dollars more than Paramount Pictures estimated they would pull in.

Final numbers on big movies often differ from earlier projections, because Sunday figures are based on estimates of how big the movie-going crowds will be that day.

"Star Trek" greatly exceeded the $50 million or so the studio thought it would make, with the help of massive critical acclaim and the strong word-of-mouth buzz it had been recieving.

Original Star Trek Soundtrack in New Movie Sneek Peak

The new Star Trek Trailor features the same theme song as the original Star Trek motion picture.
Greg Smith a conductor of the show said that many of the musicians that who performed the theme music in the New Star Trek Trailer were the same musicians from the original Star Trek Movie.

The composers went back and pulled out the original music arrangements from the first Star Trek movie and are simply using HD digital recording techniques and modern microphones to recapture the Star Trek original soundtrack in a brighter new dynamic.

The brilliant restoration of the film's original soundtrack is a tribute to the dedication the new Star Trek Movie will pay to the die hard trekker's of the past.

Chris Pine is the new Captain Kirk

JJ Abrams upcoming 2009 Star Trek movie revives the crew of the U.S.S. Enterprise and takes us to a time before the where the 1960's TV series picks up and shows us how to the crew got to know each other. Much of the buzz around this upcoming blockbuster film revolves around the same question. Will Chris Pine be the same commanding, charismatic, womanizing, ass-kicking captain that William Shatner was? Can Chris Pine fill those tall starfleet command boots?
